What are your personal memories of September 11th?
Mostly what I remember was my early thoughts--that it was a gorgeous clear blue day, the kind of day when you think that nothing in the world could go wrong. There was not a cloud in the sky, the air was light and crisp and I was driving into the office admiring it all.
And then I heard about the first plane's impact. And I recall initially thinking something ... well I don't really want to say "non-chalant", but something of that ilk. I recall having that sort of detached mentality of "oh dear, how sad" but nothing too emotional at the time. I definately didn't realize the full impact of what was going on. I'm sure most didn't. At first, it just seemed like another plane wreck, not a sinister and intentional act of evil. As the day wore on and we all became increasingly aware of the nature of the event, it hit me harder and harder, and I became much more engrossed in the unfolding stories. Nothing out of the ordinary, I'm sure of that. I didn't lose any close ties as a result of the attacks. All my loved ones that served and continue to serve in the military have been safe, with one exception.
And that's all I have to say about that...
